Four-Man Tournament off, Leif Taggart to face Mark Amos in A-Class Bout
The eagerly anticipated four-man tournament at Victory Promotions’ Battle of the North 2 has been postponed after both Stephen Williams and Gary Laws received medical suspensions following their most recent bouts.
It is rumoured Williams suffered a broken rib after his bout at the Home Show with none other than Gary Laws, and Laws himself received a medical suspension after a stoppage loss at the Road to Glory 8-man tournament last weekend, meaning both were forced to withdraw from the tournament at Scotswood Sports Centre in April.
With just Leif Taggart and Mark Amos left, both camps agreed to an A-Class bout.
Leif, who is currently ranked UK #3 at 60kg has been impressive in his recent performances, with a convincing decision win against Team Holzken’s Nick Gruijters at the Home Show in February. Mark, who suffered a decision loss against Gary Laws at the last Battle of the North show back in June last year, has recently won the Scottish Championship in an impressive victory over Wojtek, the vastly experienced coach of Hanuman gym in Edinburgh.
Losing the four-man tournament was a big loss for this fight card, however with these two lads matched in an A-Class bout, plus the main event of 3 x WBC Champion Keith McLachlan vs Spanish WMC Champion Isaac Araya and many more top bouts, it’s sure to be another top night of K1 and Muay Thai action in the north east, and one not to be missed.
