Micky Terrill wins Bare-Knuckle Cruiser-Weight Title at NE6
The NE6 Suite in Newcastle was again host to a night of top quality fights last night as Knuckle Promotions brought bare-knuckle action to the North East, with local favourite Micky Terrill, who runs The Manor Gym, making his BKB debut as he faced “Cowboys” Michael Quinn for the Cruise-weight title in the main event.
The bout started off slowly, but it was Quinn – who is undefeated in over 200 bare-knuckle contests – that dropped Terrill with a vicious right hand half way through the first round. Terrill quickly got back to his feet as the official gave him an 8-count as Micky mouthed “good shot” to his opponent standing in the opposite corner.
The bout continued as Terrill started to find his range, landing some quick jabs to the body throughout the contest, but it was the fifth and final round where Terrill twice forced Quinn against the ropes and tee’d off with some body-head combinations and took the Cruise-weight title via decision.
Both men put on a great display of heart and character, and both showed true sportsmanship after the contest, proving BKB is as professional and respectable as any other discipline.
Reflecting on his victory, Terrill recently posted on his social media account:
“I just want to thank everyone for coming to support me last night. I can’t remember much after the first round so I must have got hit with a good’n.
“Looking back at the video, my opponent was tough and tricky, but I have to say, him, and the whole production team, were nothing but gentlemen.”
