Micky Terrill Wins FFC Heavyweight Title in his Final “Gloved” Fight
The NE6 Suite was again host to a night of top Boxing and K-1 action on Friday night as Fight Fest Championships brought some of the north east’s best talent, headlined by the heavyweight trilogy between Micky Terrill and Romy Da Silva.
Micky and Romy have met twice prior to this bout, both previous fights at K-1 rules with Romy taking the first contest and Micky leveling in the second bout in what he described as one of his best performances to date.
Speaking to Cliff Sainsbury of Peep Magazine earlier this week, Micky described his previous two fights with Romy as some of the toughest fights he has had, and after original opponent Travis Dickinson pulled out due to injury, he was happy to take the third fight with Romy under Boxing rules and avoid his heavy kicks.
As the bout started Micky landed some heavy shots, throwing hooks to the body and busting Romy up with clean uppercuts through his guard early on in the fight. This continued throughout the bout as Terrill frustrated his opponent with more heavy shots and some slick head movement to avoid Romy’s counters.
Despite Micky landing heavier shots throughout the contest, Romy showed a tough chin and kept his feet planted as the bout went to the judges for a unanimous victory in favour of the new FFC Heavyweight Elite Champion, Micky Terrill.
