World Fighting League comes to Newcastle in September

Contender Promotions’ Garry Bell announced earlier this evening that he has teamed up with WFL promoter and K1 legend Melvin Manhoef, to bring one of the world’s biggest kickboxing promotions to Newcastle in September.

The World Fighting League is renowned for it’s explosive entertainment and top class production, and with ambassadors such as K1 legends Peter Aerts, Ernesto Hoost and many more, this is a true reflection on the current stature and ambition of the promotion.

After the announcement, I spoke with official WFL UK promoter, Garry Bell;

We need all K1, Kickboxing, Thai Boxing, martial artists, gyms, fighters and fans to support this, as we are taking the sport to the next level. We now have a big stage to take our fighters to world level.

With recent news that the WFL has recently signed a TV deal with Spike, this is a huge step for K1 kickboxing not only in the North East, but in the UK as a whole.

With Contender Promotions next show only a week away, headlined by Kajetan Szoma vs Michael Parking in a heavyweight bout, it has been announced on the Contenders website that the winner of this bout will be given an automatic place into the four-man tournament at WFL in September.

Also featured at the maiden WFL UK show is a four-man 95kg+ tournament, a 86kg tournament and a 77kg tournament.
